Crime rate all time high in Samba
STATE TIMES NEWSJAMMU: In another shocking incident in Samba District, a six-year-old girl, hailing from Madhya Pradesh was raped and killed by a youth from her own community. The sordid state of affairs as far as crime rate in Samba District is concerned is becoming pathetic with each passing day as yesterday another minor girl was kidnapped from village Gudwal of Vijaypur area falling in Samba District. The deteriorating crime graph in the district is a proof of the fact that lawlessness is ruling the roost and gangsters and criminals have become all powerful with Samba police sitting and watching the criminal activities as mute spectator. Although, 23-year-old accused, identified as Vishal alias ‘Chotu’ was arrested and booked in the rape and murder case of 6-year-old girl today but the fact of the matter is that Samba police has given enough rope to criminals in the district to carry on with their activities without any fear of law and law enforcing agency. The incident took place at a slum inhabited by a group of labourers from Madhya Pradesh in the Samba Industrial area. As per details, the accused lured the girl, allegedly raped her and later strangulated her to death. The minor’s body was recovered from inside a house and the post-mortem of the body was conducted at the district hospital. People in the Samba district have expressed deep concern over the functioning of Samba police. It is pertinent to mention that few days back, drug peddlers had thrashed SHO Bari Brahmana giving embarrassing moments to helmsmen manning the police force in the District. This was not enough, as another incident exposing credibility of Samba Police came to limelight when local residents of a village in Vijaypur restricted entry of cops having valid warrants to conduct search at the house of a gangster and allowed them to carry out the search only after personal search of Men in Khaki, expressing apprehension that they can play felony to frame aforesaid gangster in another fake case.
A local pleading anonymity said that how police can contain the crime and criminals in the district when its own men are reportedly allowing drug peddling and bovine smuggling on large scale after being gratified by offenders through petty favours.
Moreover, in the last three months cases of thefts, vehicles lifting are also on rise in Samba district.
