STATE TIMES NEWS JAMMU: Model Academy, the prestigious school of MIER, in association with Edcosmo Educational Advisors, Chandigarh on Tuesday organised a career counselling session for students of Higher Secondary Wing in the school auditorium. The session commenced with the school Principal, Pramod Srivastava reiterating the importance of knowing one’s potential and subject of interest before making a decision. He said that such sessions help to build a systematic plan in shaping the future growth and development of the students. The resource person for the session was Dr. Neeru Bali, a certified educational counsellor and career expert. She has been involved in guiding and counselling students wanting to pursue university education in India and abroad. She is also the managing partner of Edcosmo, an educational consultancy committed to work on guiding students into best career options. The session aimed at making students aware of the emerging career avenues along with available choices of education in the future. Dr. Bali urged the students to make informed decisions instead of following family expectations and peer pressure. She guided the students to identify their interests and what they are good at. She also laid stress on SWAT analysis and told the students to introspect and work on their strengths and weaknesses and build a unique identity for themselves. During the open house session, the students had a number of queries which were addressed by the resource person. Dr. Adit Gupta, Director MIER said that a platform like this would help not only the students but also the parents to guide their children better in choosing a career for themselves.
