STATE TIMES NEWS JAMMU: A deputation of Movement for Justice for Refugees of 1947 (MJR47) from POJK led by Om Prakash Khajuria, Block President Miran Sahib on Thursday met Union Minister Purushotam Rupala at Kirpind, R S Pura and presented a memorandum in support of their demands. Lt Governor G.C Murmu was also present on the occasion. Khajuria told the Union Minister that 73 years have passed but the Displaced Persons of 1947 from POJK have not been rehabilitated and are waiting for justice till date. “We DPs have lost more than 45000 lives of our kith and kins in the so called Tribal raid by Pak Army on the erstwhile J&K State in October 1947. We are the first victims of the Kashmir issue and the first party for any solution on the issue,” he added. “The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Home Affairs recommended to give Rs 30 lakh as interim relief to DPs but the J&K Government reduced it to paltry Rs 5.5 lakh per family as registered in 1947,” he said and asserted that the government has reserved 24 seats of Legislative Assembly for PoJK residents but why don’t they defreeze at least 8 seats for us, the original residents of PoJK. The deputation demanded implementation of complete rehabilitation package, proprietary rights to DPs on their lands, De-freezing of at-least 6 to 8 Assembly seats, establishment of development board and re-start registration of DP families as existing today and the leftover families settled outside J&K.
