JAMMU: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has presented chargesheet against six persons including a former Executive Engineer, Assistant Executive Engineer of PWD (R&B) and contractors for misappropriation of funds.As per details, the ACB produced chargesheet in a case registered vide FIR No. 32/2010 at Police Station ACB Kashmir, under Sections 5(2) of J&K PC Act Svt.2006 read with Sections 5(1)(c), 5(1)(d), 409, 468, 471 and 120-B RPC in Court of Special Judge Anti-Corruption Anantnag against Ghulam Nabi Ganaie, the then Executive Engineer, R&B Special Sub-Division Kulgam, Mohammad Yousuf Bhat, then Assistant Executive Engineer R&B Special Sub-Division Kulgam, Abdul Majeed Dar, then Junior Assistant (R&B) Electric Division Camp Office Anantnag, Rafiq Ahmad Lone, Mashooq Ahmad Khan, Arsheed Hussain Deen (Contractors).The instant case was registered on outcome of a verification conducted by ACB South Kashmir. During investigation it was found that the accused public servants have abused their official position in league with accused contractors by virtue of misappropriation of funds meant for execution of works viz ‘Providing and fitting of Street Lights’ in Kulgam town by officials of R&B Special Sub-Division Kulgam in year 2004-2005. It was found that for 21 works (both Civil and Electric), accused engineers of Sub-Division Kulgam abused their official position and hatched a criminal conspiracy with Mashooq Ahmad Khan, Nayees Ahmad Lone, Rafiq Ahmad Lon and Arshid Hussain Deen (contractors) and in furtherance of criminal conspiracy, executed the works on manipulated allotment orders purportedly issued by the then Executive Engineer (R&B) Electric Division Kashmir in 1999 on highly exorbitant rates.While Mohammad Yousuf Bhat, Gulam Nabi Ganaie, and Rafiq Ahmad Lone were arrested on October 20, 2020 other accused namely Abdul Majeed Dar, Mashooq Ahmad Khan and Arsheed Hussain Deen were arrested October 21, 2020, he said.All the accused persons were presented before the Court of Special Judge Anti-Corruption Anantnag, in custody, for further legal action and next date of hearing has been fixed on November 21, 2020, he added.
