STATE TIMES NEWSJAMMU: The long pending demand of football enthusiasts of Jammu got approval of the Government with the sanction of Synthetic turf for the Mini Stadium, Parade, here.Hub of football and a venue cherished by many celebrity footballers of Jammu, the Mini Stadium will be given a face lift with the construction of a full-fledged National standard football arena.Awaiting tendering and related formalities, the project worth Rs five crore, has been undertaken by the Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) and being technically handled by the Sports Construction Division of the J&K Government.It has been learnt reliably that besides the laying of the turf on modern lines, the allied facilities like pavilion, exclusive changing and wash rooms.“The project has been undertaken following the specifications and standard guidelines of the FIFA. The construction agency would have to seek prior approval and the clearance from a visiting technical team of the FIFA before handing over the facility,” informed the source associated with the project.Meanwhile, on being informed, the happiness had no bounds for international footballer from Jammu, Arun Malhotra.He said, “Parade football ground is my most loved venue back home. I have learned the basics of the game on this ground. The turf and other modern facilities at the proposed Mini Stadium Parade would go a long way promoting the football in the Jammu city.”
