STATE TIMES NEWS JAMMU: Mayor Jammu Municipal Corporation, Chander Mohan Gupta suggested that a well furnished Mayor Bhawan should be established at Katra for accommodation of dignitaries, who visit the town for holy Darshan for Shri Mata Vaishno Devi. Gupta was speaking at 110th Executive Committee meeting of All India Council of Mayors (AICM) held at Surat, Gujarat. Vijay Bhai Rupani, Chief Minister of Gujarat, speaking at the meeting, assured that his Government is fully committed to promote functioning of the AICM at the State as well as national level. A number of important issues were discussed during the meeting and all the executive members pledged that they will work for welfare of mankind besides initiating necessary measures for implementation of centrally sponsored schemes in their respective Municipal Corporations in letter and spirit. Moreover all efforts have also been taken to minimise the use of polythene and single-use plastic through awareness camps for students as well as general public under Swachh Bharat Mission, the members added. Others present on the occasion included Naveen Jain, Chairman AICM & Mayor of Agra, Uma Shankar Gupta National General Secretary, Dr Jagdish Bai Patel Mayor of Surat Municipal Corporation and Vice Chairman, Darshna Ben Jardosh MP, C R Patil MP, Vivek N Shej Waker MP, Bharat Singh Parmar General Secretary BJP Gujarat and Banchhanidhi Pani, Commissioner Surat Municipal Corporation.
