The vision and insightfulness of Prime Minister Narendra Modi beyond an iota of doubt is marvelous. Showing his marksmanship to keenly evince things of public importance, PM on Friday has rightly said that mark sheet has become the family’s prestige sheet and a pressure sheet for children. This small statement by the Prime Minister in essence has a big meaning which if understood in right perspective can help in fading away pressure from the lives of upcoming nation builders viz children, who have to suffer due to the tremendous pressure of parents and relatives for fetching good marks by hook or crook without ascertaining the fact that in course of accumulating marks, whether their children have been able to understand the topics to their utmost satisfaction or they have ensured high scores by rote method of learning without going through the subject. The PM while speaking on new National Education Policy (NEP) at a seminar by the NCERT said that education in India is marks-driven and not learning-driven. The issue highlighted by the PM forms the basis of new education policy wherein it has been stressed that knowledge and not the marks should be the aim. It is therefore better for all of us to let the old system of grabbing marks by rote method should go and the new education policy in its entirety is allowed to be implemented to give the chance to students to attain knowledge without any pressure or pain.
