STATE TIMES NEWS JAMMU: With his melodious voice, Manav Anand, a Nursery class student of Paramount Convent School, secured first position in the poem recitation competition. The competition was organised in Paramount Convent School, Rehari Colony Jammu for classes Nursery to UKG. “Recitation is one of the important and effective modes of learning a language and appreciating a piece of literature,” Principal Esha Jamwal said and added “Through this activity the children got an opportunity to exhibit their talent and confidence.” The competition inspired the children to come forward and recite on stage, she said adding that the purpose of this competition was to instill love for poetry and to develop recitation skills amongst the students. This activity also enabled the students to enhance their confidence and speaking skills, she added. All the children came up with different poems with props and recited them with great zeal and enthusiasm. In this competition, the students had to excel in memorizing and reciting the poetry of their choice with confidence and great control in voice modulation, expressions and other valid criteria. The recitation of the poem left everyone mesmerized. The judges were highly impressed by the recitation and also by the participation. Manav Anand got first prize while Pranshul and Mannan were adjudged second and third respectively. Principal distributed prizes among the winners and appreciated the efforts put in by them and said that such kind of opportunities help the students to eradicate stage fear and build confidence. Parents and staff of the school were also present on the occasion.
