State Times NewsJAMMU: Ashwin Adhik Malmas will start from 18th September 2020 and will end on 16th October, 2020 with beginning of Shardiya Navratri from 17th October 2020. It was stated by the President Shri Kailakh Jyotish Evim Vedic Sansthan Trust, Mahant Rohit Shastri in a press statement issued here.Elaborating further, Shastri said, “The other names for Malmas are Purshotam Mas and Adhik Mas. Malmas or extra lunar month occurs after every 32 months, 16 days and 8 ghati. Mal Maas is different from regular months because it does not have a Sankranti (movement of Sun from one Rashi/Zodiac to the other). Every typical Lunar month has a Sankranti, but the Malmas doesn’t have any. It is also known as Purshotam Mas. It is said that this month’s name was given by Bhagwan Vishnu. At the same time, Adhik Mas is dedicated to Bhagwan Purshotam which is another name of Bhagwan Vishnu. During this month, Puja and Archana of Bhagwan Vishnu is performed.” Due to COVID-19 pandemic, we should celebrate all festivals by staying at our homes, he added.
