LEH: Lieutenant Governor R.K Mathur paid homage to the martyred police, paramilitary, fire services, disaster & relief personnel who had laid down their lives in the line of duty. On the occasion of Police Commemoration Day, this was the first such event after becoming a Union Territory which took place at the Police Line in Choglamsar, Leh.Addressing the event, the LG stated that no amount of acknowledgment and gratitude would do justice to the sacrifice of these martyrs who laid down their lives while discharging their duties. LG Mathur expressed his desire to preserve the memory of the five martyrs from Ladakh by naming any institution or a significant infrastructure after them and suggested that this should be done within a fixed time frame.He sought active community involvement and local initiative as well as the help of both Hill Councils for this noble task.The event was followed by a wreath-laying ceremony at the newly built Police Memorial and interaction with the families of the martyrs.
