State Times News POONCH/REASI/SAMBA: Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Poonch of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu (SKUAST-J), under the aegis of Director Extension Dr. K.S.Risam conducted an awareness programme on plantation and Kissan Ghoshti at KVK campus, in which a total of 100 farmers from different parts of the district had participated. KVK-Poonch distributed a set of 5 plants consisting of Fruit and Agro-forestry to each farmer and also planted some plants at their own campus. Dr. Muneeshwar Sharma (Scientist) hailed the efforts made by the progressive farmers to achieve higher yields and improving the quality of different Kharif and Rabi crops along with fruits and vegetables. Dr. Sudhir Jamwal, Programme Assistant (Horticulture) informed the farmers regarding the nursery raising techniques and management for coal season vegetable crops. Anshu Banotra and Rajeev Sharma AEA, Department of Agriculture Poonch, apprised the farmers regarding central sponsored schemes and their benefits for the general public and farmers, specially they elaborated on Kisan Maan Dhan Yojana. The programme ended with the vote of thanks presented by Dr. Muneeshwar Sharma (Scientist) . SAMBA: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Samba in collaboration with IFFCO jointly organised a mega plantation drive for the welfare of the farmers at village and panchayat Rarian in Vijaypur tehsil of district Samba. More than 250 farmers have actively attended the programme. Dr. K.S. Risam, Vice Chancellor, SKUAST-J inaugurated the workshop as a Chief Guest with the planting of sapling in the premises of the panchayat land. Dr. Vinod Gupta, Sr. Scientist & Head, KVK Samba, Dr. Sanjay Khajuria, Scientist, Swatenter Sharma, State Marketing Manager, IFFCO, also spoke on the occasion. Range forest officer, Purmandal, Mohd. Saleem, Dr.Abhay Sinha, Scientist, Agriculture Engineering, Dr.Saurav Gupta, Scientist, Entomology , Dr.Neerja Sharma (Scientist, Horticulture), Dr.Suraj Amrutkar (Scientist, Animal Science) Shalini, Sahil, S. Pawandeep Singh, S. Tajinder Singh actively participated to make the event successful. REASI: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Reasi also organised an awareness programme on plantation of fruits/agroforestry/medicinal plants here at KVK, Reasi campus which was attended by more than 110 farmers/farmers women/Sarpanches/Panches from the nearby areas. The programme was organised under the guidance of Dr.KS Risan, Vice Chancellor of SKUAST-J. Dr. Banarsi Lal, Scientist & Head of KVK, Reasi, SKUAST-J Adarsh Gupta, DDM, NABARD, Reasi, Dr.Sanjay Kaushal, scientist, Dr. Arvinder Kumar, Farm Manager spoke on the scientific cultivation of upcoming Rabi crops. Jagdish Kumar urged farmers to use the Information and Communication Technologies (ITCs) in agriculture so that they can come to know about the latest technologies and marketing channels. The programme was assisted by Manohar Lal, Sanjay Kumar and Md.Iqbal.
