REASI: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Reasi under the administrative control of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu(SKUAST-J) organised field day on sesamum (Til) crop on Thursday at Malad village of Pouni block in Reasi district which was attended by a number of farmers of the area.The major objective of the programme was to showcase the success of sesamum cultivation in the area. The programme was organised by following the SOPs of COVID-19 pandemic. The programme was organised under the guidance of Director Extension of SKUAST-Jammu, Dr.SK Gupta.The programme was initiated by Dr. Banarsi Lal, Scientist &Head of KVK, Reasi with the warm welcome of the farmers. He started the programme with the brief introduction of Kharif oilseed crops and said that sesamum is one of the leading oilseed crops in the region. He stressed on the scientific farming of sesamum and urged farmers to adopt the technologies of sesamum recommended by KVK, Reasi.Dr.Suja Nabi Qureshi guided the farmers on the improved varieties of sesamum and stressed on the organic cultivation of sesamum. He guided the farmers on the value addition in sesamum and suggested for its branding.KVK scientists demonstrated the laid crop to the farmers. The programme was assisted by Manohar Lal and concluded by Dr. Banarsi Lal, Scientist and Head of KVK, Reasi with formal vote of thanks.
