STATE TIMES NEWSPOONCH: Krishi Vigyan Kendra Poonch under the patronage of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences & Technology of Jammu on Wednesday organised a veterinary clinical camp at village Chatral of Mendhar Block. Speaking on this occasion, Dr. Ajay Gupta, Sr Scientist and Head of KVK Poonch said that animal sector is most crucial sector for farmers of the area in supplementing their farm incomes. He welcomed the scientists, farmers and local representatives of the area and urged farmers to take the maximum benefit of such camps being organized by Krishi Vigyan Kendra. A team of veterinary scientists comprising of Dr. R K Bhardwaj, Asstt Professor, Vety Medicine, Dr. Sudhir Kumar, Asstt Prof ) Gynecology, from Faculty of Veterinary Sciences & Animal Husbandry, SKUAST-J alongwith Post Graduate students carried out the diagnostic and clinical works during the camp. More than 120 number of villagers from Chatral and nearby villages like Kalaban, Chung, Barola, juron, turned up for the medical check-up and treatment of their animals. More than 800 animals including cattle, buffaloes, sheep, goats and horses were checked up and treated during the camp. These include majority of medicine and nutritional deficiency cases including 10 surgery and 15 gynecology cases. While observing the problem of endo-parasites in animals of the area, scientists demonstrated and recommended the practice of regular and proper de-worming. The villagers were also provided free medicines for their ailing animals. In addition, mineral mixtures for growth and high productivity of animals were also distributed during the camp. A kissan Ghoshti was also organized in which scientists of F.V.Sc replied to the problems of animal sector. The villagers thanked Krishi Vigyan Kendra for organizing such a useful veterinary clinical camp in the remote area and requested to organize such camps periodically to address the problems of diseases and malnutrition in animals. Dr Sudhir Singh Jamwal, Programme Assistant KVK Poonch and Dr Ashok Anand, Poultry officer, Mendhar, aloghwith his technical staff from department of animal husbandry actively extended his cooperation in successful organization of the camp. The programme ended with the vote of thanks proposed by Dr Muzaffar Mir, SMS of KVK Poonch.
