Sports ReporterJAMMU: The KC Sports Club (KCSC)- A won the opening match of the 40-over a side KC Sports Club Cup 2019 beating KCSC-B by 17 runs at the Club Cricket Ground, here, on Wednesday. Earlier batting first, KCSC A made 188 runs with Fazil Rashid completing his half century. Atul Choudhary and Rajinder Sharma were other main contributors to the total with 38 and 33 runs respectively. For KCSC B, Hisham Salim took three wickets, followed by Zunaid, Ram Dayal and Vijay Dogra, who shared two each. In reply, KCSC B was bowled out for 171 runs. Kanav Saini remained top scorer with 47 runs while Ram Dayal and Shivansh made 39 and 29 runs respectively. It was Arvind Bhardwaj, who stopped KCSC B from chasing the total by taking away five wickets. Vicky Raina, Arjun Choudhary, Nitish and Lakshay Sharma shared a piece each. Later, Arvind Bhardwaj was declared Man of the Match and awarded with gift voucher sponsored by Ramada Hotel. Earlier, the event was declared open by former Union Home Secretary, Anil Goswami, who was Chief Guest while former first class cricketer and promoter of the game, Rajesh Gill was Guest of Honour. In all, five teams including three from KC Sports Club A, B and C are taking part in this competition. Other two teams represent Mayank Goswami Cricket Academy and Vishal Cricket Club. Each team shall play four matches in its round-robin format.
