STATE TIMES NEWS NEW DELHI: Jugal Kishore Sharma, Member of Parliament along with Rajeev Sharma, ex-MLA Akhnoor met the Union Minister for Rural Development, Narendra Singh Tomar and MoS Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti at New Delhi seeking early release of pending payments for works done under MGNREGA. Jugal narrated present scenario to the Union Minister, Narendra Singh Tomar in detail and demanded early release of funds for making pending payments under MGNREGA. Jugal along with Rajeev also submitted a written representation to the Minister regarding release of pending payments of MGNREGA and informed Sadhvi Niranjan about sufferings of people in rural areas. He narrated that works were allotted to labourers for development of rural areas under MGNREGA in 2014-15, 2015-16, 2016-17, 2017-18, 2018-19 and were completed with without giving any payment, thereby causing financial hardships for poor labourers. They have borrowed money to complete the work but received no payments. He further said that Sarpanchs and Panchs are also on strike for release of pending payments in their respective Panchayats. Both, Narendra Singh Tomar and Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti assured the Member of Parliament and ex-MLA that soon all payments would be released in favour of Sarpanchs, Panchs and labourers for work done under MGNREGA. A representation was also submitted to Secretary Rural Development Amarjeet Sinha for immediate release of funds under MGNREGA.
