STATE TIMES NEWS JAMMU: Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) organised awareness camp on Solid Waste Management in coordination with Councilor Yash Pal Sharma and residents of ward no 35. On the occasion, Mayor JMC Chander Mohan Gupta was the Chief Guest while Badev Singh Baloria, Chairman Health and Sanitation Committee presided over the function. Suraj Prakash Padha, Chairman Swachh Bharat Abhiyan Committee, JMC was also present on the occasion. Sudesh Dogra, prominent person of the area, highlighted various grievances of the ward and demanded services of a tempo to lift garbage on daily-basis from houses of people. Another senior citizen, Udey Chand stressed for changing existing life-style habits besides disposing-off garbage at proper places. Master Jorawar Singh highlight various ways of proper disposal of organic and inorganic wastes. Dr Zaffar Iqbal, Nodal Officer SWM informed about various initiatives of JMC to dispose-off solid wastes. He further highlighted various programmes to prepare cloth-bags and Agarbatti in collaboration with Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, Katra. While addressing grievances of people, the Mayor engaged a tempo for ward no 35 to collect garbage from the area on daily basis. He further informed the gathering that the State has obtained the status of ODF by completion of 9.34 crore toilets. Speaking on the occasion, Councilor Yash Pal Sharma requested people to clean surrounding of their homes. B M Kohli, Thoru Ram and Yashpal Gupta were also present on the occasion.
