R S PURA: Jammu Kashmir Sharnarthi Action Committee (JKSAC) in a brief meeting of the executive members of Tehsil Jammu and R.S.Pura held at Rohi Morh Jammu and paid rich tributes to over 40,000 martyrs who sacrificed their lives at the hands of Tribals supported by Pakistani regular army and saved Indian part of Jammu & Kashmir. These martyrs have been forgotten by various dispensation of state and country and it is highly unfortunate that they were not given any place in the present history of the country. While speaking in the meeting Gurdev Singh along with Netar Parkash, Dwarka Nath Khajuria and Santosh Kumar said that 22nd Oct. 1947 is an unforgettable day for DPs and is being observed as Black Day when thousand of Hindus and Sikhs were thrown out forcibly by tribals who slaughtered over 40,000 people of all ages. The women were raped, abducted and ravished in front of their relations and their properties of millions of rupees were looted and destroyed. He said that it was the worst kind of genocide which has ever been witnessed in the present history of the world. He further said that the sacrificed made by these martyrs delayed the advance of tribals and Pakistani army and saved Jammu & Kashmir, but unfortunately their sacrifices went unnoticed by all the previous dispensation of state and centre. They were not given justice in one of the biggest democratic country of the world till date despite of their consistent struggle since 1967. No serious measures were taken by any of the govt. to rehabilitate honorably and were discriminated at every step with the result that they are lagging behind politically, economically and educationally. Even after passage of more than seven decades they are awaiting their adequate final settlement. He reiterated that DPs are that thankful to PM Modi for providing relief package to each DP family, which provided some balm on their bleeding wounds. He said that this little relief provided to DPs do not match with their loss of lives and properties in any way. He reminded the govt. that DP’s seven decade old legitimate settlement problem cannot be considered as fully resolved until and unless adequate compensation in shape of ex-gratia relief as per JPC Report No. 183 is not paid for their loss of left-out properties including other components. He appealed to GOI as well as state govt. to declare this day as National Martyrs Day and be declared holiday. The participants also appealed to Lt. Governor to expedite the process of disbursement for the remaining beneficiaries and stress upon the MHA to release the funds, and also appealed to seriously take cognizance of DP problems and prepare roadmap accordingly to resolve the same.
