JAMMU: Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL) on Friday felicitated Bishan Das Family in Gharana-21, a series of musical programme organized at Abhinav Theatre.
On the occasion, I.D Soni, senior educationist, academician and social activist was the Chief Guest.
While speaking on the occasion, Soni appreciated the contribution of Bishan Dass as an artist and as head of the family who served with their talent of singing from generation to generation. He also applauded the contribution of Satinder Sanu, who excelled in the field of music at global level. He also hailed the contribution of JKAACL for initiating such a memorable series of musical programme Gharana and said that this will help the local artists and youth to realise the importance and value of our old rich tradition and heritage.
Bishan Dass was born on May 20, 1961 at village Nand Pur Gujran, Miran Sahib, Jammu in the family of Kaushalya Devi (mother) and Kripa Ram (father). He got his early education from Government Middle School, Miran Sahib and received education in music from Master Chuni Lal and then Master Bhua Ditta and did his M Mus. from Prachin Kala Kender, Chandigarh. He is Assistant Cultural Officer in Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages and also B High Radio artist of All India Radio, and Door Darshan Kendra. He got married with Champa Kumari in 1990 and blessed with three sons. His elder brother Bihari Lal Parwana and Baldev Raj are also visual artists of national repute and have solo exhibitions of their sculptors and paintings. His son Satinder Sanu is winner of final of Chhotey Ustad – Do Desho Ki Ek Awaaz and then a number of national and international awards and shows were honored the performances in his credit. His sons Ravinder Kumar and Aditya Kumar are also singers of national repute and are contributing with their melodious voices throughout the country and abroad also. Satinder Sanu is now busy in play back singing in Bollywood films like Goggles of Rajesh Khanna, Bairee Hirkhey De in Dogri.
Dr Aziz Hajini, Secretary, Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages delivered his welcome address and applauded the contribution of Bishan Dass family.
Bishan Dass, Satinder Sanu, Ravinder Kuamr, Aditya Kumar presented their selective items while Rakesh Anand (flute), Sunil Kumar (sythn), Johny (synth), Girdari Lal (Sarangi), Vikas Nagar (Gitar), Darbari Lal (rythm), Joginder Pal (Tabla) and Lucky Sahil (Octopad).
Ravi Kant, Renowned Radio Anchor and Programme Producer conducted the proceedings of the programme while Dr Arvinder Singh Amn, Additional Secretary, Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages presented vote of thanks.
