DCs asked to constantly monitor home isolation patients
STATE TIMES NEWSSrinagar: Jammu and Kashmir recorded 17 more COVID-19 fatalities and 1,093 new cases on Thursday, taking the death toll to 1,198 and the infection tally to 76,163 in the Union Territory, officials said.Jammu district reported the highest number of 490 new cases, followed by 164 in Srinagar district, they said.“The UT recorded 1,093 fresh cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours — with 692 in Jammu and 401 in the Kashmir Valley,” the officials said.
New Delhi: India’s COVID-19 caseload crossed the 63-lakh mark with 86,821 infections being reported in a day, while 52,73,201 people have recuperated so far, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Thursday.The recovery rate stands at 83.53 per cent. The total coronavirus cases mounted to 63,12,584, while the death toll climbed to 98,678 with the virus claiming 1,181 lives in a span of 24 hours, the data updated at 8 am showed.There are 9,40,705 active cases of coronavirus infection in the country which comprises 14.90 per cent of the total caseload, the data stated.The COVID-19 case fatality rate due to the coronavirus infection has dropped to 1.56 per cent. India’s COVID-19 tally had crossed the 20-lakh mark on August 7, 30 lakh on August 23 and 40 lakh on September 5. It went past 50 lakh on September 16 and crossed 60 lakh on September 28. According to the ICMR, a cumulative total of 7,56,19,781 samples have been tested up to September 30 with 14,23,052 samples being tested on Wednesday.
There are 16,413 active cases of the coronavirus disease (COVD-19) in J&K, while 58,552 patients have recovered so far, the officials said.They said 13 deaths were reported in Jammu and four in the Valley. According to the daily Media Bulletin, out of 76,163 positive cases, 16,413 are Active Positive, 58,552 have recovered and 1,198 have died; 355 in Jammu division and 843 in Kashmir division.The Bulletin further said that out of 16,43,722 test results available, 15,67,559 samples have been tested as negative till October 1, 2020.Till date 5,79,313 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 15,446 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 16,413 in isolation and 50,787 under home surveillance. Besides, 4,95,469 persons have completed their surveillance period. Providing district-wise breakup, the Bulletin said that Srinagar has 15,046 positive cases (including 164 cases reported today) with 2,058 Active Positive, 12,696 recovered (including 202 cases recovered today), 292 deaths; Baramulla has 4,427 positive cases (including 39 cases reported today) with 1,332 Active Positive, 2,971 recovered (including 23 cases recovered today), 124 deaths; Pulwama reported 3,967 positive cases (including 25 cases reported today) with 410 active positive cases, 3488 recovered (including 41 cases recovered today), 69 deaths; Kulgam has 2,279 positive cases (including 13 cases reported today) with 114 Active Positive, 2,122 recoveries (including 10 cases recovered today), 43 deaths; Shopian has 2,029 positive cases (including 2 cases reported today) with 157 Active Positive, 1,840 recovered (including 22 cases reported today), 32 deaths; Anantnag district has 3535 positive cases (including 16 cases reported today) with 426 Active Positive, 3,043 recovered (including 22 cases recovered today), 66 deaths; Budgam has 4925 positive cases (including 54 cases reported today) with 871 Active Positive and 3,970 recovered (including 103 cases recovered today), 84 deaths; Kupwara has 3640 positive cases (including 27 cases reported today) with 741 Active Positive, 2,832 recovered (including 21 cases recovered today), 67 deaths; Bandipora has 3,434 positive cases (including 34 cases reported today) with 428 Active Positive, 2,969 recovered (including 99 cases reported today), 37 deaths and Ganderbal has 2,918 positive cases (including 27 cases reported today) with 326 active positive cases, 2563 recoveries (including 66 cases recovered today) and 29 deaths. Similarly, Jammu has 13,505 positive cases (including 490 cases reported today) with 3,390 active positive cases, 9,923 recoveries (including 466 cases recovered today), 192 deaths; Rajouri has 2,692 positive cases (including 39 cases reported today) with 1,194 active positive cases, 1466 recovered (including 178 cases reported today), 32 deaths; Ramban has 1,357 positive cases (including 22 cases reported today) with 247 active positive, 1,100 recoveries (including 232 cases recovered today), 10 deaths; Kathua has 2,079 positive cases (including 16 cases reported today) with 494 Active positive, 1,563 recovered (including 10 cases recovered today), 22 deaths; Udhampur has 2,273 positive cases (including 20 cases reported today) with 549 active positive cases, 1706 recovered, 18 deaths; Samba has 1,782 positive cases (including 20 cases reported today) with 761 Active Positive, 1,000 recoveries (including 51 cases reported today), 21 deaths; Doda has 2,233 positive cases (including 22 cases reported today) with 969 active positive cases, 1,233 recoveries (including 121 cases recovered today), 31 deaths; Poonch has 1,788 positive cases (including 14 cases reported today) with 953 active positive, 819 recoveries (including 2 cases reported today), 16 deaths; Reasi has 964 positive cases with 399 active positive, 559 recoveries and 6 deaths while Kishtwar has 1,290 positive cases (including 49 cases reported today) with 594 active positive cases and 689 recoveries (including 11 cases reported today) and 7 deaths. According to the bulletin, of the total 76,163 positive cases in J&K 8,804 have been reported as travelers while 67,359 as others.Meanwhile Financial Commissioner, Health and Medical Education, Atal Dulloo has impressed upon the officers to make public adopt the COVID appropriate behaviour strictly besides increasing the frequency of daily testing.He urged the Deputy Commissioners and other officials to keep themselves prepared for the forthcoming winter season and festive season and ensure that the unlock 5.0 guidelines are strictly implemented. Atal Dulloo directed the officers for constant monitoring of home isolation patients besides regular monitoring of health through phone in facility. He exhorted upon the officers to increase the frequency of calls to home isolation patients.Underlining the need for effective strategy for containing the spread of virus, the Financial Commissioner asked the DCs to follow the strategy of constant surveillance, proper clinical management besides adopting other SOPs strictly.Dulloo directed the DCs to constantly attend the training sessions with National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) teams regarding containment of virus and other strategies. He asked them to increase the contact tracing by forming teams at lower levels besides uploading the reports of tests conducted on ICMR portal.The Financial Commissioner further asked the DCs that Govt. of India is starting Information Education and Communication (IEC) campaign regarding COVID-19 from 7th October, 2020 for sensitising the people regarding developing COVID appropriate behaviour. He impressed on the DCs that the campaign will mainly focus on informing people regarding use of wearing masks, maintaining social distance, hand hygiene and other measures for containing the virus. Dulloo exhorted upon the DCs to utilise the services of PRI representatives, teachers, Asha Workers, Anganwadi workers and other frontline workers besides religious leaders for reaching out to the masses during IEC campaign.The meeting was attended by Director National Health Mission (NHM), Bhupinder Kumar, Deputy Commissioners, CMOs of all the districts through video conferencing while as Director Health Services Kashmir, Samir Mattoo and other senior officials of health department attended the meeting in person. During the course of the meeting, Director NHM gave a detailed presentation regarding status of COVID-19 in Jammu and Kashmir.
