Sports Reporter JAMMU: Jammu and Kashmir Police men and Jammu district women clinched the men and women’s title trophies respectively in the two-day 6th State Handball Championship held at MA Stadium, here on Monday. In the men’s final, J&K Police defeated Sports Training Centre (STC) Jammu 26-21 in the well contested final. Similarly, in women’s title clash, Jammu district outplayed district Udhampur 13-01 in a one-sided contest. Arushi remained top scorer with six goals while Megha and Poonam Kumar contributed three each. Vice President of the Handball Federation of India, Nariender Mahajan was the Chief Guest, who along with President J&K Handball Association, Dr S.M Bali and former India Captain, SSP Ranjit Singh presented the title trophies and other individual prizes. The championship held under the overall supervision of general secretary of the Association, Ashwani Kumar Raina. The event was financially supported by the J&K State Sports Council. Earlier, Ashwani Raina welcomed the distinguished gathering and presented a brief note of the event. Among others present were Sanjeev Jamwal (Executive Member JKHA), Dev Raj (SAI Coach) and Vinay Sharma (Coach).
