STATE TIMES NEWSThe politicians, especially those from the BJP have vehemently raised the temp and even exploited the Jammu sentiment byraking up the issue of Jammu and Kashmir having a Hindu Chief Minister. Nothing wrong in the proposition. India is a secular state and evey individual has the right to occupy the highest constitutional position. If Hindu dominated Rajasthan and Maharashtra could afford to have Muslim Chief Ministers at certain point of time or India witnessed several distinguished Muslims as Presidents, there is no reason why the sentiment of the Jammu people is not respected.BJP’s 2014 election campaign revolved around ‘Ab Ki Baar 44 Ke Paar’ with a Hindu as Chief Minister. Similarly, then senior Congress leader Sham Lal Sharma also raised a pitch on the same sentiment. So many Jammu based leaders have been vouching for such a proposition. But the question arises as to who fits the slot? Kashmir has scores of Chief Ministerial faces, which they have elected and tested during the past over seven decades. Unfortunately, Jammu has during this period witnessed only second fiddlers emerged minus some honourable exceptions decades ago.Now that every Tom, Dick and Harry is voicing the popular demand of a Hindu Chief Minister for J&K, it is time for the people to showcase the probable candidate. In democracy, it is the prerogative of the people to have the ruler they wish and elect and therefore STATE TIMES will be bringing out a series of opinions on the subject. It will form a regular feature for some time. So, let us go and know who fits in the public estimation as Hindu Chief Minister from Jammu.
