Pt Dev Dutt Shastri, President, Jai Chandi Maa Jagran Committee, Bhalwal: “Since Independence, J&K has never ever had any Hindu or a strong leader from Jammu region as Chief Minister. With the quick upswing of BJP in J&K, the expectations for Hindu CM saw an upsurge.BJP J&K General Secretary and former MLC Vibodh Gupta emerges as the best choice for the exceptional post of CM. We are proud of his Swamsevak (RSS) background which makes him very humble and down to earth personality.J&K wants a change and he has proved his worth as MLC. He has played an instrumental role in ceasing strategically and communal demographic changes in the border districts of Rajouri-Poonch. Whenever we look at ground zero, we find people having a connect with him.His endeavours and achievements for the overall growth and development of Rajouri-Poonch has earned him the title of man of development.BJP has now assigned him with the crucial assignment of strengthening the party in Kashmir. He will surely bring a climax to the years of instability in the Valley with his vast experiences of working in tough and difficult political terrains”.
Atul Sudan, Vice President, Jammu Joint Students Federation: “In our constitution nowhere is it mentioned that a person from minority community (Hindu, Sikh, Christian, Buddhist etc.) cannot be the Chief Minister of Jammu & Kashmir. As per the aspirations of Jammuties, who are facing discrimination since independence, there is a need for a Hindu CM whenever next elections are held. Being Vice President of a youth organisation, which represents large number of youth from the Union Territory, I too want a Hindu CM.There is no doubt that the BJP leaders vocally promised Jammuites for Hindu CM in last Assembly elections but neither they fulfilled their promise nor projected the issues of Jammu at appropriate levels. This time a well experienced and a bold leader should be elected as CM and it should be from Jammu. As per my viewpoint, it is only former Minister and BJP leader Sham Lal Sharma, who is capable of running the administration efficiently and can do justice with Jammuites.Other than him is Advocate Ankur Sharma Chairman IKKJUTT Jammu who is young and promising face. He has proven his worth by effectively projecting the issues of the Jammu region”.
Dr. Guru Sharma: “Jammu has been ruled by Kashmir-centric leaders since Independence and it is a well known fact that Jammu always faced discrimination. It is painful to accept that even under the rule of the so called pro-Jammu and pro-Hindus BJP. It is the high time that we Jammuites should join hands for the development of Jammu region and elect a Hindu Chief Minister, who represents the legitimate aspirations of Hindus. Jammu has been sidelined in every aspect by the majority community leaders and it is the people of minority communities who have to unite to elect their CM so that Jammu does not face discrimination at the hands of Kashmir centric leaders. A young dynamic Dogra leader who knows the nerve of Dogras should be made CM and Jammuites should be given the chance this time.
Rakesh Kumar Koul, General Secretary, Panch Sarpanch Coordination Committee: ” I believe there is a dire need of a capable, unbiased and efficient CM for J&K who tends to work only for betterment of the people, irrespective of their caste and community. Moreover, the need of the hour is to have a CM who will work for the development on all fronts. He should treat all equally and work for the betterment of J&K. He should work for people and not for his own vested interests.”
Vijay Koul, a retired government employee, ” Hindu CM can better rule the UT and history is the testimony of it. As far as becoming CM of J&K is concerned; it will not make much difference as long as J&K remains a UT. But still I would prefer a political leader who wins the confidence and hearts of the people of J&K. In my opinion, the choice would rest on Sham Lal Sharma and Ashok Kaul who are well aware of the situation and challenges in both regions of J&K. They are the only leaders who can raise voice against the injustice being done with Jammu from decades.”
