Charanjeet Singh, VP, Army Contractors Association: We have lots of hopes in the BJP. But at present the people of Jammu are annoyed with the local BJP.CM from Jammu region is a distant dream as this time the Modi Government at the Centre will have tough time to take the Jammu people along with the party. The former BJP MLAs whom we voted immensely without any affiliations, have broken our hearts. We welcome a CM from Jammu but how BJP at this point of time claim that they will appoint the one and that too a Hindu.Corruption is everywhere and we are unable to understand that how a common man will survive here as nothing has changed. Even the things have gone worse. We the people of Jammu have poor medical facilities. BJP was unable to fulfill the requirement of oxygen in our hospitals here. Even if voted to power again, we request Modi ji to bring an outsider of any religion as CM here who has vision and capabilities to head J&K.
Neeraj Gupta, Secretary Pradesh Congress Committee: There needs to be an election first. BJP is wrong to say that they will appoint a Hindu CM. They need a competent person first even if voted to power. No one in the local BJP is competent.Earlier also they supported PDP and Mufti headed the PDP-BJP government. Claim of Hindu CM is a BJP’s vote back politics. If situation arises they will again support some Kashmir based leader only.In my opinion, Ghulam Nabi Azad is the only choice for the coveted position of the CM. The development during his tenure was at peak.He is the right person for the slot because he knows all the problems and issues faced by the people of both the regions of Jammu and Kashmir.
P. N. Jalla, Retired officer: The views are pouring in daily from the intellectuals of Jammu on the subject. But sometimes a person like me, who in plus eighties is forced to wake up from the slumber, wishes to react. Yesterday one young businessman, Ishan Sethi of Jammu suggested the name of Devender Sing Rana. No doubt the qualities elaborated by him may stand the test of time but none from the UT of J&K except for partially one or two districts of North Kashmir will opt for ‘China ‘ as per the latest slogan of his party. Therefore, I do not want to dishearten this young man, rather suggest the name of Dr Jitendra Singh– Devinder Rana Sahib’s brother, possessing the same genes, being above board, who can deliver as CM. We have been watching it ever since his stay in the central government.
Sanjay Manhas, General Secretary, Sewa Dal: It does not matter whether the CM is Hindu or a Muslim. He should be the one who is willing to work for the development and must be people friendly, honest, futuristic , approachable and above from cheap party politics. He needs to work for employment generation. I think Ghulam Nabi Azad is the right man to be the CM of Jammu and Kashmir. He is ground to earth and had earlier also worked for the betterment of people of J&K. So I think he deserves to be the CM.
