JAMMU: Jammu Development Authority (JDA) on Wednesday retrieved 50 Kanals of prime land from the clutches of encroachers.
On the directions of the High Court, JDA conducted a demolition drive at Gole Gujral along River Tawi downstream of 4th Bridge, Jammu thereby retrieving approximately 50 Kanals of prime land from the clutches of encroachers. The demolition drive included dismantling of Pacca concrete structures as well as sheds on JDA land. The land was illegally occupied by United Jehlum Road and Roof Builders for the last three years, which was retrieved and fenced.
The operation was carried out by Enforcement and Revenue Wing of JDA under close supervision of D.S Katoch (KAS), Director Land Management, JDA, along with his team comprising Narinder Kour, Collector Land Acquisition, JDA, Dr Rehana Bijli (Junior KAS), Chief Enforcement Officer, JDA, Vijay Sharma Tehsildar, JDA, Zone A, Naib Tehsildar Kuldeep Kumar and Khilafwarzi Officer Pankaj Singh Sambyal with assistance of Khilafwarzi Inspectors Parsotam Kumar, Rajinder Kumar, Rajinder Choudhary, Madan Lal, Thoru Mohammad, Faried Hussain and Romesh Kumar with other field staff of Enforcement and Revenue Wing of JDA.
The operation was successfully conducted with the cooperation of J&K Police under the close supervision of Vivek Gupta, SSP Jammu, G.L Sharma, SP North, Jammu and Neeraj Bhagat, SHO Police Station Nowabad.
Vice Chairman JDA, P.S Rathore warned the land mafia to desist from encroaching JDA land and in case of such attempts, legal action as warranted under law shall be taken against the violators.
