STATE TIMES NEWS JAMMU: Having all kudos for the Indian Army’s valour and their role as frontline warriors, Jammu Citizens Forum on Wednesday honoured the COVID-19 fighters including doctors at a function held at the auditorium of JK Public School Kunjwani. GOC Tiger Division Major General VB Nair was the Chief Guest on the occasion, which was organised with all guidelines and protocol of social distancing in place. The services of Corona warriors including Army, Police, Health Workers of Municipality, Medicos and Media were lauded on the occasion while the gathering of people including the NGOs paid tributes to Martyrs and honoured COVID Warriors for their dedication towards duties. The programme started with the release of song of Sunil Sharma for COVID-19 warriors and distribution of masks and sanitizers in the presence of Maj Gen VB Nair. The song composed by Sunil Sharma exhibited the support of citizens for Army and Corona warriors. Veer Nari Sharda Bhau also graced the occasion while Dr Rahul Gupta, Head, Department of Chest Diseases, GMC, Jammu Dr Rohit Gupta, Deputy Director Jammu Indian System of Medicines ( Ayush) and Col Suresh Reddy were honoured as Corona Warriors. Other awardees include Dr Rajeshwar Sharma, Medical Superintendent CD Hospital, Jammu, Soma Devi, Matron, CD Hospital, Pawan Sharma, Senior Pharmacist, ISM, Suresh Sharma, Supervisory Pharmacist, Girdhari Lal, Pharmacist, and Vijay Dubey Head Pharmacist, ISM. A certificate of appreciation was given to Vijay Gupta, Chief Editor YoungBites who covered stories of valour and sacrifices of Martyrs of Armed Forces from J&K, through Electronic and Print media. His wife Abha Gupta was awarded for making a CD of collection of work done including the interviews conducted on corona pandemic. The copy of CD was also distributed among the participants. Earlier, Brig Harcharan Singh, Director Sainik Welfare Department, in his welcome address appreciated the initiative of Jammu Citizens Forum in expressing gratitude to Armed Forces through public programmes and made special mention for Army, Police, Medical Department and Municipality workers role in this fight. Jammu Citizen’s Forum organized the event with theme of unity, patriotism and brotherhood. The event was held in association with Director of Rajya Sainik Board, Brig Harcharan Singh with the active support of JKPS Director Shashi Choudhary and the proceedings of the programme were conducted by Harneet Kour. Chairman of Jammu Citizen’s Forum and Chairman of JK Public School Raj Daluja, in his written message, stated that it was our privilege to host this event for frontline warriors to ensure security and safety of the nation and its citizens. He further added that Jammu Citizens Forum always proudly participates in programme organised with an aim to honour Armed Forces and Martyrs. Rotary Club Elite and S S Jain Sabha sponsored the videography of a song in honour of Martyrs along with renowned singer, writer and music composer, Sunil Sharma, famous as ‘Kishore Kumar of J&K’, who composed and sung the song, aptly video graphed by Varun Anand. Paramjit Kaur (Rotary Club Elite) and Giat Nandan Jain, S S Jain Sabha, Talab Tillo launched a public campaign, which received an overwhelming response and it was also backed by Naveen Jain, Satwant Singh and Daljit Singh of Jai Building Constructions Pvt Ltd, Vijay Bhagotra and Col Rawel Singh, ZSWO Jammu for shooting the video based on patriotic theme. In addition to fight against COVID-19, Hand Sanitizers were donated by Chiranjiv Singh Anand of Ethi Care Lab while Dr Ritesh Gupta (IG Dental College) donated hand gloves. Brig Sukhdev Singh expressed thanks and highlighted the achievements of Jammu Citizen’s Forum in detail. The programme later was concluded with recital of National Anthem. Gautam Daluja, Kamal Mahindru, former Provident Commissioner Defence Spokesman Lt Col Devender Anand, Team Jammu Chairman, Zorawar Singh and President Press Club of Jammu, Ashwani Kumar, Rajesh Choudhary, Manu Shirvastav, former Press Club President and all members of Jammu Citizen’s Forum were present on the occasion. Jammu Citizen’s Forum has been in the fore front for the past several years to honour and acknowledge the services of army, security forces and police towards the nation, both in terms of upholding national integrity and foiling terrorism. Apart from holding seminars, the forum has organised an impressive Tiranga Rally in the Jammu City. In the various high profile seminars, the ace diplomat G Parthasarthi and a leading defence expert Lt Gen Ata Hasnian delivered key note addresses on various issues confronting the nation. The Forum also generated awareness about likely role of political parties in evolution of democracy based on deeply ingrained nationalism. Inter alia, the Forum also organised various events of immense national and public importance.
