Mahatma Gandhi has said, ‘Always aim at complete harmony of through and word and deeds, always purifying your thought and everything will be well’.Nnation is going to celebrate the week of ‘Communal harmony’ and there is no doubt the ‘communal harmony’ is the hallmark of Indian democracy. India is a country of multi-cultures, where the people belonging to different religious social, culture and lingual identity live togetherharmoniously. But from history to present the negative virus of communalism is the biggest threat and problem for Indian ‘communal harmony’ and peace.People from different sections, castes and religions need to protect the diversity of our nation otherwise our fundamental identity of diversity can be crushed by some external forces and the dream of ‘India A land of peace and unity’ can’t be fulfilled untill the involvement of all sections and communities of India taking the pledge to protect the fraternity of India. Dr. BR Ambedkar the father of Indian constitution explain the concept of Indian fraternity with full of preciousness. ‘Fraternity means a sense of common brotherhood of all Indians- Indians being one people. It is a principle which give unity and solidarity to social life. It is a difficult thing to achieve… How difficult it is for Indians to think that they are a nation. I remember the day when political minded Indians, resented the expression ‘the people of India’ They prefer the expression ‘the Indian nation.’ I am of opinion that in believing that we are a nation, we are cherishing a great delusion….. For fraternity can be a fact only when their is a nation. Without fraternity equality and liberty will be no deeper coats of paint.’In the context of Medival India and Ancient India, there are many examples of ruling kingdoms teaching us the importance of communal harmony and transformation of good ideas of different cultures and religions are how much benefited for regional peace and harmony. The ‘Daman policy’ of Ashoka and the ‘Sulh-i- Khul policy of Akbar is the best example of over traditional communal harmony. Another side in the contest of religious harmony a refreshing reference may be made to a letter said to have been address to Emperor Aurangzeb, by ‘Chhatrapati Shivaji’, where he is reported to have said; Hinduism and Islam are both beautiful manifestations of the divine spirit. The call for the prayer is given in the mosque; the bell ring of Divine gallery in the temple. Anyone bearing fanaticism and religious hatred must be acting against the commond of God.’ As we know man was created as one, by god without any caste ,creed or religion. All religions preach ask to live in harmony, peace and together and spread out of message of love and brotherhood and not hatred. They inculcate in us intolerance, tolerance and forbearance for all religions and faiths. The time has now come for all mankind to live on earth in harmony as a single family. Living in a harmony is no longer simply an ethical principle rather it is a way of life. The mirror of history tell us about the importance of ‘communal harmony’ and how India can achieve full target of peace love and unity. Because the freedom struggle of India is the best mirror of Indian diversity strength, not only freedom struggle but also during the period of Ancient india and Medival india taught us about the importance of communal harmony on every steps.
