STATE TIMES NEWS LEH: The Executive Councillor for Education, Konchok Stanzin convened a meeting of educationists and senior intellectuals, working in the field of education since long time in Leh District, to brainstorm and give feedback for designing an inclusive education policy for Leh district in next 3 to 4 years. Amidst thoughtful feedbacks and suggestions, the meeting dwelled upon the need of research on education system of Leh through various issues including school infrastructure, strengthening of kindergarten /ICDS, shortage of teaching staff, categorisation of teachers subject wise, assessment of teachers training and strict monitoring on implementation of teachers training through committees, medium of instruction, method of teachings, importance of Bhoti language from kindergarten level, moral education, lack of reading habit among students, introduction of skill courses, improvement in text books, programme on education system of Leh on AIR Leh and DDK Leh, physical, art, music and theatre education, scholarship and range of topics and issues related with education system. Earlier, the meeting also discussed various other issues including reasons behind decreasing trend in student enrollment in government schools, results, school drop-outs based on MHRD data of Leh district, presented by the Founder 17000 ft Foundation, Sujata Sahu. Others present in the meeting included Councillor Diskit Tsering Angchuk, Principal CIBS Choglamsar Geshes Konchok Wangdus, Principal EJM College Leh Prof Deskyong Namgyal, Founder 17000 ft Foundation Sujata Sahu, DEPO Leh Tsethan Dorjey, AD Planning Education Tsering Angdus, Principal KV Leh and Principals of Higher Secondary Schools, ZEOs and teachers.
