State Times NewsSRINAGAR: Police on Monday unearthed an Illegal trade of LPG gas in Awantipora.Acting on specific information about illegal trade of LPG gas in Litrabal area of Pampore, a party from Police Station Pampore raided the area and seized 6 gas tankers bearing registration numbers HR55AB-3696, HR55U-5698, PBO3A-3399, RJ14GF-9500, HR46D-3222 and NLO1K-7135 red handed, while filling the cylinders with gas from tankers.The vehicles were seized and drivers were arrested on the spot. They were identified as Vijay Singh resident of Kathua, Nasir Ahmad, Mohd Ramzan Bhat, Mohd Rafiq Sheikh, Chamail Sings and Prem Singh all residents of District Rajouri. Notably, all these tankers were coming from outside the valley and were supposed to unload gas at Gas Bottling Plant Pampore, but instead they were illegally selling some quantity of gas to private gas dealers in the area.Moreover, a Tata Mobile bearing registration number JK02AG-0388 laden with 22 cooking gas cylinders, which were being refilled by these gas tankers, was also seized and its driver, identified as Ishfaq Ahmad Dar resident of Lethpora was also arrested. All arrested persons were shifted to Police Station Pampore where they remained under custody.A case vide FIR No. 80/2020 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Pampore and investigation has been initiated.
