JAMMU: Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), Ministry of External Affairs in association with the Department of Students Welfare University of Jammu is going to organise first ever Mime Festival and Workshop in Jammu.
This was disclosed by Regional Director ICCR J and K, Balwant Thakur while launching it’s publicity campaign here at ICCR Regional headquarters.
Sharing details Balwant Thakur informed that with the specific aim of introducing this great art amongst youth in a professional manner this major event has been devised and planned after having series of discussions with the Jammu University authorities. The workshop will be conducted by India’s great mime artist and Guru Padamshree Niranjan Goswami who is coming all way form Kolkata to conduct this workshop.
Introducing Niranjan Goswami, Regional Director elaborated that he is an accomplished Indian mime artist and stage director, credited by many with pioneering the art form of mime in India. He is the founder of Indian Mime Theatre, the pioneering institution of the art of Mukhabhinaya (silent acting).
The Mime Festival and workshop will start from August 27, 2017 at Brig Rajinder Singh Auditorium, University of Jammu and will continue till August 31, 2017. For participation in this workshop, priority will be given to the college students who will be selected by the University of Jammu and few seats have been kept for other aspirants who will be shortlisted by ICCR Jammu.
