JAMMU: The disclosure about misuse of Security Related Expenses (SRE) by the Coalition Government has irked the general public, particularly various organizations, who have expressed dismay over the state of affairs in the State, particularly at a time when the people are suffering on various counts.
Several organization have reacted sharply to the revelations made by the STATE TIMES, hoping that the government will show some sort of sensitivity to the matters of grave public importance.
In its previous issue, the STATE TIMES has exposed the ruthless and unaccounted expenditure being incurred by misusing the funds. In a startling exposure, the Ambassador car and an escort gypsy deployed with chronic blackmailer and a hawala racketeer S.D Rohmetra Chittu, Editor-in-Chief Daily Excelsior stands unclaimed by the government. The mute question arises as to who is providing petrol to the two vehicles, their depreciation and salary to the staff of bullet proof car and escorting gypsy, if there do not belong to any agency of the government? Certainly, the expenditure must have accumulated to cross of rupees.
It is ironic that some shady people are enjoying the comforts at the public expense while thousands of unemployed are hankering from pillar to post in pursuit of jobs”, said J&K PDD Daily Wagers Employees Provincial President Kuldeep Singh.
President, Jammu and Kashmir Rahber-e-Taleem (ReT) Teachers’ Forum, Vinod Sharma said: “In this age of inflation, we have been left with a meager honorarium of Rs 1,500, which has been raised to Rs 2,000 after great struggle”.
Home Guard Welfare Association, State President Kamla Sharma in a statement out rightly criticised the government policy vis a vis providing escort and government and expressed surprise that there was no dearth of funds in issuing petrol etc also to these people while genuine demands of the various segments of employees were ignored. “It’s not fuel but the blood of poor youth, whose dreams stand shattered due to negligence of the government”, she maintained.
The people have been wondering over the slogans of Chief Minister for eradicating corruption; they have been asking about the efficacy of the pleas of Finance Minister that the State was passing through a phase of financial crunch what is the administration, particularly the DGP, Home Secretary doing and how the huge spending on a blackmailer being adjusted? If crores of rupees can be spent on a single blackmailer, what will be the extent of spending if all such cases are verified.
