STATE TIMES NEWSKATRA: While addressing a programme at Katra organised by Hotel & Restaurant Association, Katra (HRAK)wherein the representatives of PHD Chamber of Commerce & Industry Jammu Region (PHDCCI), were also present Director Industries Jammu Anoo Malhotra said that service sector which includes Hotels & Restaurants besides sectors which provide services has vast potential in the state and can prove to be major employment generator, which can be tapped in a big way and can be a big source of employment for un employed youth. Malhotra said that with the coming of service sector in the ambit of Industry they have become eligible for various incentives which were available to Industry till some time back and since the state of J&K is Tourism oriented state,vast avenues have opened up for entrepreneurs and in turn job opportunities for the people of J&K and asked for maximum investment in this sector. Romesh Chander Addl. District Development Commissioner,& General Manager Industries Reasi District while speaking on the occasion elaborated in detail the activities of the Industries department in the district and asked for maximum registration and investment of the public in the service sector. Rakesh Wazir President HRAK & Co-Chairman PHDCCI said that it is established world over that Hotel Industry provide maximum job opportunities investment wise and as such its potential should be explored to its maximum. He said that during investors summit and even otherwise the people be convinced in such a way that instead of going for stereo type of investmentments, the projects which may add on to the Tourism potential of the state be encouraged and cited the example of Patnitop Rope way in this behalf and asked that similar type of investments like Rope ways at other areas like Shiv Khori, Sanasar etc., big boarding schools, Universities, Hospitals, Medical Colleges, Hotel Management Institutes which now a days are part of Tourism and come as Health Tourism, Education Tourism, Adventure Tourism etc. be explored. Wazir raised the demand of re imbursement of GST to Hotel sector and likewise Industrial Power Tariff to hotels on the pattern of Industry. Shyam Lal Kesar Chairman while speaking on the occasion emphasized for abolition of Toll Tax at Lakhanpur. He said that it is really surprising that when GST was introduced and big taxes in the shape of GST were imposed on service sector and particular on Hotel Industry which was at zero percent slab till then, and at that time it was assured that there will be one nation one tax but on the contrary toll Tax too is levied putting big burden on common people and hotel Industry as well and the biggest example of that is Cement which is more than 50 rupees costlier here than other states and the mention of same is made by Union Home Minister Amit Shah in his speech at Parliament itself and the same is required to be abolished without wastage of time so that common people are not suffered any more. Virender Kesar Sr Vice president HRAK & Katra Head PHDCCI asked for introduction of Ola & Uber in the state on the pattern of whole India. Malhotra listened the points raised in the function patiently and assured that points pertaining to her will be considered at the earliest and the rest of points which would be pertaining to higher authorities would be recommend with positive notes. Sayeed ,Function Manager Sunil Kumar, Shashi Bhushan, Mohan Singh Kotwal, Rajan Sharma and Ankush Gupta.
