Horizon Club lifts Eid Diwali Milan Cricket C’ship trophy

JAMMU: Horizon Cricket Club trounced Vridhi Royals by 12 runs in a summit clash and lifted the Eighth Eid Diwali Milan Cricket Championship organized by Senior Cricketers of J&K /Members of ICA in association with KC Sports Club at KC Sports Club Cricket Ground, here on Sunday.
Earlier batting first after winning the toss, Horizon Club scored 159 runs for the loss of eight wickets in 20 overs. Vivrant played a fine inning of 58 runs, while Piyush and Kaniya contributed 28 and 15 runs respectively to the total.
For Vridhi Royals, Gourav was the pick of the bowlers, who took four wickets while Sachin claimed two and Jasbir and Archit grabbed one wicket each.
In reply, Vridhi Royals could not chase the target and managed to score 147 in 20 overs for the loss of seven wickets. Jasveer was the top scorer with 42 runs followed by Smarpit and Anshul, who added 32 and 20 runs respectively to the total.
For Horizon Club, Shubam and Vivrant scalped two wickets each while Sukha and Santbaksh claimed one each.
Vivrant of Horizon XI was adjudged Man of the Match as well as Man of the Series for his all-round performance in the tournament. Gourav Sharma and Smarpit of Vridhi Royals were declared as Best Bowler and Best Batsman respectively.
In the valedictory function, Shahid Parvez, senior cricketer and Member ICA was the Chief Guest whereas Sanjay Sharma SP Rural Jammu was the Guest of Honour. They distributed trophies among the winner and runner-up teams.
Earlier, Rajesh Gill, former Ranji player and organizing secretary of the tournament presented a detailed report about the ten-day long tournament.
Rajesh gill also announced that more cricket events will be conducted in near future with the support of Indian Cricket Association at Jammu.
The Chief Guest lauded the efforts of the organizers in conducting this mega event wherein top teams of the J&K participated.
Shahid also appreciated the title and objective of the Tournament because it involves the message of communal brotherhood which is very important and the need of the hour in the present scenario.
He also complimented the Horizon team for their great performance in the tournament and winning the title trophy.
He also spoke in glorifying terms about KC Sports Club and its Managing Director Arjun Choudhary for providing great sports infrastructure to the sportsperson of the state.
The matches were officiated by J.D Singh, Ashok Kumar and Dinesh Kumar. The proceedings of the function was conducted by Rajesh Bakshi while the vote of thanks was presented by Sudhir Singh, Member Organizing Committee.
