JAMMU: PCC President G A Mir favoured holding of Lok Sabha and Assembly polls simultaneously in the State for giving power to people to elect and install a democratic Government of their choice at the earliest. While addressing a meeting of District Congress Committee (Jammu Urban) here on Thursday, PCC Chief said that uncertainty over holding of Assembly polls should end as soon as possible, so that the political process in the State can be geared up. Since ULB and Panchayat elections held in the State despite staying away of some main political parties, there should not be any reason to hold assembly polls, for providing an elected Government to people, who are confronted with numerous hardships.
Former Minister and JKPCC Vice-President, Raman Bhalla was the Guest of Honour during the meeting, convened by President DCC (Urban), Vikram Malhotra. The said meeting was attended by large number of workers and office bearers of the District and Block Units, besides a number of JMC Corporators.
The PCC Chief further called upon the party functionaries and delegates to reach masses and maintain a close rapport with them besides seeking suggestions regarding various issues to be taken up in the party’s manifesto for the elections.
Reiterating that Congress would ensure equitable and balanced development of all the three regions and all parts of the State, besides ensuring equitable share in political, social and economical spheres to remove the mistrust and wedge created by the previous Government.
Lashing out at entire BJP leadership for ignoring mandate of Jammu people, who voted the party to power, Raman Bhalla said that people were exploited in the name of religion and castes, with BJP leadership acting as mute spectators just to enjoy the power.
Such a divisive politics is dangerous for the State and nation, said Bhalla, asking leaders and activists of DCC (Jammu Urban) to fan out in their respective areas and educate masses about the failures of BJP Government at the Centre and State. He further urged the people to get united and support Congress to defeat nefarious designs of communal, divisive and separatist forces in the State for overall development of the State.
DCC President Vikram Malhotra, while welcoming the participants, stressed upon the need to counter false propaganda of BJP, which claimed to be the champions of Jammu for last seven decades, but miserably failed when they got huge mandate on false and unachievable slogans. “BJP stands exposed totally for its misdeeds and can no longer befool masses of Jammu region,” he said.
Dr R K Khajuria, B B Gupta, Madan Lal Malagar, Gourav Chopra, Satish Sharma, Amrit Bali and Ritu Choudhary were also present.
