STATE TIMES NEWSJAMMU: The Scouts and Guides Wing of Heritage School organised a one-day trekking expedition to Sumb (Samba). In all, 40 students were escorted by three teachers along with Kanchan Sharma and Manjit Kour (trainers from the Scouts & Guides Headquarters). The Heritageans successfully started their trek at 7:30 AM in full gusto. It was a blend of joy and shivering experience for the young hikers. The students were exposed to various interactive and interesting activities throughout the day. Covering a trial of over 6 kms, with the help of wood cross sign, they experienced the village life by interacting with students from a nearby government school and local rural people. Students gathered information about their daily routine, sources of entertainment as well as local flora and fauna. The activities included enactment of a play on Lord Baden Powell followed by promise law and a prayer. The young participants showed a lot of excitement, zeal and enthusiasm in taking the various physical challenges. It was an experience the students are likely to remember for a long time.
