Quibbling at this hour of crisis is completely unnecessary and should not be the case as people in the country and across the world are passing through most difficult times thus focusing on fighting the lethal coronavirus should be the one and only objective of all the entities including individuals. Such a remark by the Vice President of India Venkaiah Naidu shows the priority of the government and the sharp acumen which the VP holds. This statement was coupled with a request to intellectuals for coming forward with suggestions and remedies to effectively tackle the menace. The Vice President’s statement in the wake of people decrying 21-day lockdown and other measures adopted by the government holds great significance at this juncture as being persnickety during crisis will do no good to anybody rather it is time to get united and fight COVID-19 firmly. Once India overcomes Corona there shall be ample time to discuss and resolve other issues but right now getting off-track can lead to devastating results. Looking into the slower pace of rise in cases of corona in India as compared to European countries and USA, the decision of 21-day lockdown restrictions seems to be working and any criticism at this point of time is uncalled for as the adverse impact of this contagion which earlier was looking inevitable has been controlled to a large extent. With no treatment available till date, the precautions as suggested by the concerned hold the key to stop the spread of coronavirus and instead of following the guidelines if the people start raising questions the situation can take a dangerous turn like in some of the countries of western world where the aforesaid virus has been multiplying with exponential growth with death figures crossing alarming levels. As nobody in the world has magic wand to eliminate coronavirus overnight, the tough and long measures as adopted by the government of India are the only solution to come out of this trouble. All said and done, staying home and ensuring physical distancing can only help.
