STATE TIMES NEWSLONDON: The High Commission of India in London organised an event to showcase Art of Pashmina making by artisans and craftsman from Kashmir. The glittering event, held at The St James Court London, was attended by over 120 people. The event was a celebration of Art of Pashmina making and all lives connected with the Art. Pashmina is an important cottage industry of J&K with Pashmina Shawls being one of the most venerated textile world-over. The High Commissioner Ruchi Ghanashyam gave the welcome address and lauded locals of Kashmir for their extreme skill in producing these inimitable textiles enjoyed by collectors and Textile enthusiasts the world over. Jammu-based Textile Designer, Varuna Anand, who has been promoting the Art across India and world through exhibitions and online sales, was also a speaker on the occasion and spoke on making of famous Pashmina shawls. The event was graced by a diaspora of people including Navnit Dholakia, Baron Dholakia OBE, Swaraj Paul, Shreela Flather, Baroness Flather, MP Virendra Sharma, former MEP Neena Gill, Shahnaz Hussain, Regional Manager of Air India Suhash Jadav and CMD Exim Bank.
