STATE TIMES NEWSKATHUA: In continuation to the Green J&K drive being carried out by the Social Forestry Division Kathua, the Vanmohtsav was celebrated on Saturday, at Dadwara (Billawar). In the plantation drive, 70 saplings of various broad leaved species viz., Chinar, Silver oak, Bottle brush, Cestrum, Guava, Toona, Jamun etc. were planted.Simultaneously, plantation drives were also carried out at ISM centre Janglote, PHC Janglote, Dev asthan and Panchayat Ghar Janglote, involving the members of District Legal Services Authority, Kathua, Department of Health and Family welfare, Panchayat Raj Institutions and locals, wherein 150 species of different tree saplings were planted.Mohinder Gupta, Regional Director, Department of Social Forestry, Jammu, Munish Bhardwaj, DFO, Social Forestry Division, Kathua, Vivek Modi, DFO, Billawar, Suman Lata Sarpanch Panchayat Halqa, Kandharnoo, members of PRI and staff of the Social Forestry Division, Kathua, participated in the drive at Dadwara, Billawar.Munish Bhardwaj, DFO, informed that during this year the Social Forestry Division Kathua has a target of 1,36,000 saplings to be planted under different schemes in phased manner and tree saplings have also been distributed to the public and members of PRI through different nurseries of the department at government approved nominal rates.
