STATE TIMES NEWSRAJOURI: In connection with weeklong celebrations of 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi and International Day of Nonviolence, The Science Club of Govt. PG College Rajouri organized International Webinar on “Gandhian Philosophy and Post-Covid World”.Director Colleges, Higher Education Department J&K, Prof. M.Y. Peerzada was the chief guest on the occasion. Ela Gandhi Padma Bhushan (granddaughter of Mahatma Gandhiji , Peace activist and former member Parliament south Africa) was keynote speaker, Prof. N.Radhakrishnan (Former Director Gandhi Smriti and Darshan Smiriti New Delhi, Chairman Gandhi Peace Mission India), Prof. Lorin Peters ( Eminent Gandhian, USA), Christian, Bartolf (President Gandhi Information Centre Berlin Germany), Laxmi Dass (Executive Member Gandhi Smirti and Darshan Smriti GOI and Vice President Harijan Sevak Sangh India), Graeme Nuttall OBE (Partner, Fieldfisher London and The Gandhi Foundation) were main resource persons of the webinar. Principal of the College, Prof. (Dr.) Shakeel Ahmed Raina presided over the programme.In his inaugural address Prof. M.Y. Peerzada said, consciousness of a person matters greatly to follow and practice nonviolent life as Mahatma Gandhi did to become a good human being.Ela Gandhi in her keynote address covered almost all aspects of Gandhian philosophy ranging from nonviolence, truth, durable peace, environment, nutrition, sustainable development, Covid and post-Covid world, spiritualism adhering common universal values.Prof. N. Radhakrishnan delivered lead lecture. He spoke on need of inculcating Gandhian values among young generation for a better world. Prof. Lorin Peters spoke on his pilgrimage to nonviolence, becoming Gandhian and emphasized upon youth to students to fallow this beautiful way of life. Christian Bartolf inspired the participants in unique way by narrating, poems, dialogues, statements by and about Mahatma Gandhi. Graeme Nuttal delivered leture on Trusteeship, Companies, employees, and business rules in United Kingdom and India, and explained how Gandhian principles be integrated among such ways of working.Principal of College, Prof. (Dr.) Shakeel Ahmed Raina in his welcome address briefed the audience about college profile/ achievements and celebration of Gandhi Jayanti as best practice of the college to promote peace and communal harmony.Earlier,Dr. Mohd Ashaq Malik, convener of webinar, introduced the audience about the programme and resource persons and conducted proceeding of the programme. Dr.Mohd Akhlaq organizing secretary of the conference presented formal vote of thanks whereas Prof. Riaz Ahmed Mirza provided technical supportwas. Staff, students of the college and hundreds of scholars across the globe attended the webinar.
