State Times News JAMMU: The State Government has ordered all the departments and their subordinate field offices to host their applications/online data/digitized data/software solutions or any item of similar nature in the State Data Centre (SDC). The order states that the Government of J & K has a state-of-the-art SDC established in the premises of Civil Secretariat Jammu which has been setup under the Mission Mode Projects of Government of India. It is a central facility for hosting all kinds of e-Governance solutions of the State. The SDC is equipped with 24×7 Operations support; 24×7 Power backup including UPS’s and Gensets; 24×7 controlled cooling environment; 24×7 Network and Server monitoring; Physical and Virtual Servers; Enterprise Storage; Firewalls for security; Automatic Tape library for Tape Storage; Backup and recovery solutions; separate staging and production environment; Physical Rack Space for hosting of IT infrastructure viz. Server, Storage firewalls etc.
It is impressed upon all the departments and their subordinate
field offices to host their data in the SDC. Nominal hosting charges are applicable for operations and maintenance.
The order further states that Dr. Farukh Nisar Paul, KAS, Dy. CEO, JaKeGA Project Manager, and Irfan Rather, Project Manager JaKeGA, Team Leader SDC may be contacted for any further enquiry and support. It has been further advised that no department should create their own Data Centre separately. In exceptional cases where separate Data Centre is felt needed an NOC may be sought from the Information Technology Department justifying rationale of a separate endeavour, the order states.
