STATE TIMES NEWS LEH: A three-day long Ladakh Green festival ‘Go Green Go Organic’ commenced with great fervour at Skurbuchan here on Saturday. On the occasion, Skyabgon Chetsang Rinpochey was the Chief Guest while Skabjay Togdan Rinpochey, Bakula Rangdol Nima Rinpochey, Skyabje Rigyal Rinpockey and Executive Councilor Agriculture, Phontsog Stanzin were the Guests of Honour. Chetsang Rinpochey along with many other respected dignitaries jointly inaugurated the event. The main objective of the programme was to sensitise farmers about the potential of growing income-oriented fruits and vegetables for uplifting their socio-economic status. During the festival, the Department of Agriculture and Horticulture conducted a Kissan Fruit Mela, wherein farmers from Skurbuchan and surrounding villages showcased their farm-produce and best farmers were awarded accordingly. Apart from other Departments including DIHAR, SKUAST and various NGOs also exhibited their products and disseminated latest farming technologies among growers. Furthermore, colourful cultural programmes, Archery and Painting competitions were also conducted, which were attended by a number of students from adjoining schools.
