‘Book anti-national elements within 24 hours’
State Times News JAMMU: GGM Science College students on Tuesday boycotted their classes and further intensified their protest demonstrations as the police failed to identify those responsible for raising anti-India and pro-Pakistan slogans in the middle of the Canal Road on Monday. Students inside Jammu University also staged protest demonstration while similar protests were also held in Samba and other places in support of the GGM Science College students. Meanwhile, angry students sought strict action against the policemen who had opened lathicharge on students and facilitated smooth exit of Kashmiri passengers for raising anti- India slogans. Student leaders also charged state policemen of facilitating smooth exit of these trouble makers to Kashmir at the behest of their superior officers.
The students who took out procession from GGM Science College to Jewel Chowk also demanded slapping of PSA against those behind the incident and gave one-day ultimatum to the district authorities failing which they threatened to further intensify their stir.
Carrying the Tricolour, the students raised slogans of “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” and “Vande Mataram”. They also raised anti-Pakistan slogans.
Students leader Vijay Chaudhary said a case should be registered against the stranded Kashmir-bound passengers involved in raising “anti-India” and “pro-Pakistan” slogans and they should be arrested.
This will not be allowed in Jammu, he added.
Meanwhile, traffic remained disrupted on the Canal Road for several hours as students took turns to block the road outside college premises and unfurled Tricolour at various places.
A section of students also vent their ire against the Principal ,GGM Science College for failing to protect the children of his own college and allowing entry of policemen inside the premises where they manhandled both girl students and young boys during lathicharge.
At present several students, who had received injuries during commotion inside the college premises were nursing their wounds.
Several students also busted the propaganda of Kashmiri leaders by presenting facts before the media persons. They claimed all those Kashmiri leaders who had tweeted white lies and claimed that GGM Science College students had pelted stones on the Mufti Mohd Sayeed Hostel and targeted Kashmiri passengers should visit the hostel and see that all the mirrors are intact and there is no stone in the premises of the hostel.
Students were also angry with the Jammu based politicians and leaders of different political parties who pretend to remain at the forefront of their fight against discrimination with Jammu region.
Questioning their absence from the scene, the students alleged on one hand the Valley based politicians are spreading white lies and standing behind the Kashmiri passengers who had raised anti India and Pro-Pak slogans while Jammu based political leaders shied away from coming to the rescue of students who were dragged into dirty politics by Kashmiri politicians to suit their ulterior motives.
The students were also angry with the poor handling of the whole incident by the State administration and officers present on ground zero. The students alleged the environment of chaos and confusion was created due to poor handling of the incident by the officers and appealed to the Governor to order a thorough inquiry to ascertain the facts to ensure that similar incidents were not repeated in future.
