JAMMU: Physically challenged father and terminally ill mother of Constable Rouf Ahmed had enough reason to silently mourn the death of their young son in deserted precincts of their home for the fear of Sangbaz Mujahids, roaming unbridled, outside every home in Kashmir. They couldn’t sob; they couldn’t cry and they couldn’t speak a word either against his killers.
Being a policeman or his kin is a curse and an unpardonable sin in Kashmir. Rouf was not as lucky as the son of Ali Shah Geelani alias Geelani Calendar, who is rehabilitated as a government doctor. He is not like the son of Unified Jehad Council supremo Syed Sallah-ud-din, who works in a government organisation, EDI. He is the same person who was evacuated by security forces and policemen like Rouf from his office building on 23rd February 2016, stormed by terrorists pushed into this side of Kashmir by Pakistan, ironically with the connivance and assistance of his father.
Don’t policemen in Kashmir have human rights? Rouf was just like one of the policemen, who are guarding and escorting the separatists like Geelani Calendar, at the expense of poor Indian tax-payer. If any of his guards-a policeman-will get hurt, won’t hardcore separatists open up their mouth? This is a poser to every Kashmiri who is losing his dear one each passing day for running the enterprise of Geelani Calendar, Yasin Malik, Mirwaiz Umar and hundreds of their ilk. They have bruised the psyche of Kashmir and trampled, what is known as Kashmiryat. Nobody in Kashmir was even moved by the most inhuman act of pushing a cop, Afroz Ahmen along with his mobile-bunker vehicle in Jhelum near Sangam on July 10 by a furious Sangbaz squad. Kashmir did not roll tears for Rouf and Afroz.
The self-styled Messiahs of Kashmiri people have no sympathy for young people like Rouf even though they too are Kashmiris and Muslims. The separatists have no sympathy for Mujahids or martyr either, as they are just investment of their enterprise, opened with huge funding from Pakistan. They will do anything and everything to run their enterprise, which promises bread and butter for their future generations.
The separatists and a pampered segment of vocal population lose no opportunity to beat their chests when Pakistan trained and sponsored terrorists get killed by the security forces in Kashmir. When similarly placed terrorists got killed under Zarb-i-Azab by Pakistani forces in Wazirstan and other places, the fanatic celebrated each death.
In contrast to what is happening across the border, the double agents in the Kashmir separatist camp, Pak lackeys and even the mainstream political players have almost caged the security forces and police here in an attempt to thwart their offensive against terrorists and Sangbaz squads (rechristened form of terrorists). This is because of the weak kneed policy of the successive governments including the one led by Narendra Modi. There is total chaos as far as tackling terror or the current spell of stone-pelting or Intifada is concerned in the Valley. The secessionists have been pampered to such an extent by extending all sort of concessions, medicare and hospitality that they keep on calling shots and challenging the sovereignty of India despite being in house arrest. The icing on the cake is that they are still annoyed over their ‘human rights’. Secessionists’ morale is so high that hawks like Geelani Calendar are not only romanticizing terrorists but also glorifying stone-pelters as innocents. They have been pushing young boys to wall by handing over stones in their hands in lieu of few bucks. They have developed vested interest in boiling Kashmir.
Separatists have devised a seasonal modus-operandi to keep the Valley on flames. They come like migratory birds from their cozy havens in places like Delhi and other Indian cities when summer sets in, only to ensure that dozens of youngsters get killed. No sooner the autumn arrives in the ‘Valley of Misfortune’, top separatist commanders like Geelani Calendar, pack their bags and baggage and leave for plains to save themselves from harsh Chillai-Kalan. In between, they issue a couple of statements to entice their supporters in the administration to have them under preventive detention, so as to avail free air travel, stay in posh hotels and get specialized medical treatment in premier hospitals of the country. After ‘needful done’, they while away their time in the warmth of plains till Kashmir opens up for summers. People in Kashmir know that winters remain relatively calm in the Valley after separatists moving out. This time it will be no different notwithstanding unprecedented stone-violence, which has claimed 86 lives so far.
A calendar for stone-agitations stands issued till September 22, which may get another extension as November is still far away for separatists like Geelani Calendar to venture out.
