STATE TIMES NEWSSAMBA: A plantation drive was organized by Govt. Degree College Samba in collaboration with District Treasury Office, Samba to celebrate “Vanamahotsava Week”. On this occasion, a variety of medicinal and fruit yielding plants were planted in the college premises. The plantation drive was inaugurated by District Treasury Officer, Samba-Sandeep Singh Manhas and Principal -GDC Samba -Dr. Sushma Mahajan. Sandeep Singh Manhas planted sapling of Aegle species (Bel) and emphasized the importance of this particular species.Other officials from District Treasury Office Samba namely Ajay Sharma, Rakesh Shrama, Liaqat Hussain, Barun Singh Slathia, Rafiq Ahmad and Ajay Choudhary also participated in the drive.The Principal of the College impressed upon the staff members and students particularly NSS volunteers and NCC cadets to initiate the plantation drive at their respective places through E-messaging.Moreover, they should come forward to motivate the people for planting more and more sapling at their near most places. She also planted sapling of Emblica (Amla) and appriciatied the voluntary adoption of these plants by the staff of the college. Staff members of this college namely: Dr. Yash Paul Singh, Dr. Seema, Dr. Ram Singh, Prof. Kamaljeet, Dr. Narsing Dass, Dr. Rajni Sharma, Dr. Manjulla, Deepika also participated in the drive.
