STATE TIMES NEWSUDHAMPUR: Government Degree College Neeli Nallah, Udhampur, Department of Sociology, organized the Inter-College Online Essay Writing Competition on the theme “COVID-19- A greater Impact on Women”. The competition was held under the guidance and supervision of Talat Pravez Rohella, Commissioner/Secretary, Higher Education Department and Prof. (Dr.) Satinder Kaur, Principal, GDC Neeli Nallah, Udhampur. Talat Pravez Rohella, focused on the multiples challenges that women are facing in the present time as majority of women are on the frontline of the pandemic because women make up 70% of all health and social services staff globally. Prof. (Dr.) Satinder Kour stressed on the fact that COVID pandemic posses a threat to woman’s livelihood and also increases their burden of work at home.The adjudicators of the event were Dr. Vasudha Choudhary, Associate Professor in Zoology, Govt. P.G. College for Women, Gandhi Nagar and Sharat Chander Sharma, Member, Board of Management; Dean, Modern Subjects, HOD English, Central Sanskrit University, Jammu Campus. The Programme was organized by Asstt. Prof. Swati Dutt and Dr. Radha Rani. The students from various colleges have participated in the competition. In the competition Sayed Basit Farooq from GDC Uttersoo, Anantnag secured first position; Sanjay Kumar from GDC Thathri secured second position and Shruiti Dogra from School of Science, Cluster University, Jammu secured third position. The Principal of the institution Dr. Satinder Kour thanked the jury of the programme and congratulated the winners of the competition.
