STATE TIMES NEWS JAMMU: MIER College of Education on Tuesday organised a freshers’ meet to welcome its new B.Ed. general, B.Ed Special Education, M.Ed., M.A. and M. Phil. Education students. The chief guests on the occasion were Dr. Renu Gupta, Vice Chairperson MIER and Dr. Adit Gupta, Principal MIER College of Education. Dr. Mool Raj and Dr. Rohnika Sharma, the HODs of PG and UG Departments and faculty members presided over the event. Addressing the new students, Dr. Adit Gupta said that there is no substitute for hard work, and it is the only key to success and as incoming students, they need to put their 100 per cent in the training programme and derive maximum benefit out of it. He further added that ‘teachers’ are social engineers and can bring the change not only in the lives of their students but also in society at large. The event saw many dazzling performances by both seniors and juniors alike from introducing themselves to modelling session by juniors. The fun filled moment started with the playing of game “Balloons Bust”. A number of song and dance performances were presented by the students which were greatly appreciated by the audience. A mesmerising ramp walk show was also put up by the junior students of both the PG and UG departments. A panel of jury members selected Sakshi Pathak from M.Ed and Samina Iqbal from B.Ed as Miss Fresher and Ashit Toppo from B.Ed and Ravi Kumar from B.Ed Special Education as Mr. Fresher. Bupinder Kour of M.Ed. semester third conducted the programme. Uma of B.Ed. Special third semester presented the vote of thanks.
