JAMMU: President Pranab Mukherjee on Saturday awarded four teachers of Jammu and Kashmir at Rashtrapati Bhavan at a function held in observance of the Teachers’ Day celebration.
He was flanked by Union Minister for Human Resource Development, Smriti Irani and Minister of State for Human Resource Development, Prof. (Dr.) Ram Shankar Katheria.
The teachers who have been bestowed the covet award are; Master Romesh Singh, Middle School Pharal, Zone Marheen Kathua, Saraswati Vihar, Kalibari, Kathua and Master Abdul Ahad Bhat, Middle School Malbagh, Zone Langate, District Kupwara received awards under primary school teachers’ category while for Secondary School level, Headmaster Kiran Rajput of High School Kaluchack, District Jammu and Imitiyaz Byhaqi, Principal Higher Secondary School Palpora Iddgah, Srinagar were honoured with this recognition.
The award is a public recognition to meritorious teachers working at primary, middle and secondary levels of schooling.
Overwhelmed over the award, Kiran Rajput told STATE TIMES that she was feeling elated after receiving this award and it seems that the hard-work of several years had finally given her the much desired incentive. “I dedicate this award to my colleagues who have persistently inspired me to raise the standard of education and impart quality education”, she added. CEO Jammu, J.K Sudan told STATE TIMES that it’s a proud moment for the State as four teachers have been conferred with National Award.
