State Times NewsUDHAMPUR: First endoscopic surgery was successfully performed on a 26 years old female patient at district hospital Udhampur by ENT Surgeon, Dr. Neha.Female patient (26) suffering from ear discharge and hearing loss since the last 3 years was operated at district hospital with endoscopic tympanoplasty procedure of surgery.The surgery was performed jointly, wherein Anesthetists, Dr Prakash Atri, Theater Assistant, Rajinder and Mahesh rendered their roles, the operation was successful under the supervision of Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Udhampur, Dr KC Dogra and Medical Superintendent, Dr Vijay Raina. Dr Neha who is trained in endoscopic surgeries from Safdarjung Hospital New Delhi is also trained in endoscopic nasal procedures and vocal cord surgeries. After the successful surgery she said that use of endoscope helps to visualize the middle ear anatomy and pathology intraoperatively with minimal soft tissue manipulation, better cosmesis and reduced postoperative morbidity and better graft uptake.“Doing elective surgeries also put lives of Doctors and paramedical staff at high risk of getting Coronavirus especially in the ENT section since the operation is done in close contact with patients,” Dr Neha said and added that utmost precautions and procedures were taken while operating the patient.Dr Neha expressed happiness and joy after successfully performing first endoscopic surgery at District hospital Udhampur and hoped that the healthcare department would further treat patients successfully.
