State Times NewsSRINAGAR: Senior Vice President Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Conference (JKPC) and former Minister Abdul Gani Vakil on Tuesday said, the development package which Government of India (GoI) is likely to announce should not remain confined to papers only but should be implemented on ground too.Vakil said that the GoI must include revival of the fruit and tourism industry in the package.“In a development package, the GoI should include the unemployment policy for the youth of Jammu and Kashmir and it should also include the revival of the fruit and tourism industry which are the backbone of the Kashmir economy,” Vakil said in a statement.“If the GoI is really upto providing a package, it will be a welcome step but this should not be done on papers only. The package should be implemented on ground too,” he said.Vakil further said, “Till date many promises have been made on papers but nothing has been done so far on ground level and the package which GoI is likely going to announce must include revival of the fruit and tourism industry which is likely at the verge of extinction.”“Unemployment is a major concern to be followed in Jammu and Kashmir; it should not be ignored in this special package,” he said.Meanwhile, Vakil also expressed concern that thousands of applications have been invited for the government jobs in previous months but nothing has been done so far.Vakil questioned the GoI, as to what happened to those posts that were notified and invited by the government.
