STATE TIMES NEWS SRINAGAR: After the successful culmination of Cluster Phase in all districts, eight teams have qualified for final round of Youth Football League Tournament which kick started on Tuesday at TRC Turf Srinagar, Bandipora. The qualifying teams in boys category are Samba, Kishtwar, Poonch, Udhampur, Anantnag, Pulwama, Srinagar and Bandipora while six teams competing in girls category are Jammu, Kathua, Srinagar, Bandipora, Budgam and Baramulla. Today’s first match which was played between Anantnag and Bandipora started with attacking intent from both the teams. Anantnag broke the deadlock first in the 15th minute. They won a penalty and Saqlain scored it with a composed finish. Bandipora tried their best to get the equaliser but failed to convert at many occasions. At the end of half time, score was 1-0 in favour of Anantnag. Second half started on a high voltage note and both teams played aggressive football. Anantnag scored the second goal through Mohsin in the 80th minute of the game. Bandipora tried hard and scored a solitary goal in 90th min through Mohd Nayeem. Anantnag emerged victorious with a brilliant performance and the scorline ended on 2-1 at the end of 90 mins. Anantnag bagged all the three points. Second match was played between Srinagar and Udhampur. Srinagar dominated the game from the start and played possession football. They scored back to back goals as Udhampur had no counter against their attack. First half ended with the scorline of 5-0 in favour of Srinagar. In the second half Srinagar started again with the goal scoring intent and scored four more goals. Muneer, Zubair, Moonis, Mehran, Afreen scored one goal each while Parvaiz and Waseem scored two goals each for Srinagar. The game ended with a scorline of 9-0 in favour of Srinagar. Nusrat Gazala, Divisional Sports Officer Central, Ab Lateef Accounts Officer Sports Council and player Mehraj Ud Din Wadoo were the Special Guests on the occasion who interacted with players before the start of the match. The event is being organised by State Football Academy under the supervision of J&K State Sports Council and is being supported by J&K Football Association. In tomorrow’s fixture Samba will take on Kishtwar at 10:00 AM, Poonch will lock horns with Udhampur at 12:00 Noon. In girls category Srinagar will face Kathua in the opening encounter of the tournament.
