State Times News JAMMU: The much celebrated and accredited former top police officer of Jammu and Kashmir, Farooq Khan, currently Lakshadweep Administrator, is likely to be appointed as Chief Advisor to Jammu and Kashmir Governor, Satya Pal Malik. According to sources, the former Inspector General of Police Khan, a 1994-batch IPS officer is likely to join as the top security advisor to the J&K Governor next week. They added that orders with regard to his appointment are being issued shortly. Khan retired from service in 2013 and later joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He hails from Jammu and played a major role in anti-terrorism operations in the State before his retirement. His appointment as Chief Advisor is seen as a move to expedite the process of normalcy by neutralizing terrorism. Jammu and Kashmir was placed under Governor’s Rule on June 19, 2018, after the PDP-BJP coalition government fell as the BJP decided to pull out of the alliance. Thereafter, the State was put under the President’s Rule.
